Welcome to Autoharp Radio!

Thanks for dropping by. Autoharp Radio is the home of me, Marc Gunn, autoharpist and bard of the Brobdingnagian Bards. I play traditional Celtic Folk music on the autoharp with a growing tendency towards Scottish, American and children's songs.

I started playing the autoharp in 1997 when my punk rock band broke up. I wanted to learn to write melodies for a change, and I didn't want to have to worry about being a guitar virtuoso like every other Austin musician. So I decided on the autoharp. It's perfectly easy to just sit down and start playing. Heck, the toughest thing about it was tuning the instrument. And I mastered that in no time. Before I knew it, I was playing folk music with passion and a love like you wouldn't believe.

The autoharp is the perfect instrument for a newbie to music or an experienced musician. But though it's easy to get started. It's not so easy to master. It takes time and practice like everything else. But with a sound as soothing as a soft breeze across a mountain morning lake, it is in my humble opinion the most enjoyable instrument to play when you just want to relax.

Oscar Schmidt OS15B AutoharpIf you are looking for a great instrument to start learning on, try the Oscar Schmidt OS 15. It's a great instrument to learn on (great prices too). Then when you start hitting the festivals, you can check out the hand-crafted instruments to see what you prefer. Or if you have a gambler's soul, bid for an autoharp eBay!

If you are an autoharpist and have recorded some music, I'd love to add you to my Autoharp Radio station. It's free and easy to do. Just send me some music.

Last, I publish an autoharp newsletter. Drop me a message and sign up for this ezine. It's filled with autoharp stuff, like free downloads and some great autoharp tips too. So take a look around the site. I've collected a lot of information and some great resources. And I'm always looking for more. If you have an autoharp link you would like to share, please drop me a line. Take care and God Bless!
