About Brobdingnagian Bards

The Brobdingnagian Bards (pronounced brAHb'ding-näg-EE-en) are The Original Celtic Renaissance duo from Austin, Texas. Marc Gunn and Andrew McKee combine unique instrumentation (autoharp, recorder & mandolin) with traditional Irish and Scottish songs, contemporary Celtic world airs, and a live performance that is just plain fun! This intoxicating blend earned them the title of "masters of traditional folk" by the Austin Chronicle and made them one of the most-popular independent Celtic/World/Folk music bands online with over three million MP3's downloaded.

The Brobdingnagian Bards have performed throughout the United States at Celtic Festivals, Renaissance Faires, and Fantasy Conventions with enthusiastic responses. This summer they will release their sixth studio album, "Memories of Middle Earth", a musical tribute to JRR Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings". The album features their number one hit single "Tolkien (The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings)" which spent over twenty weeks as the number one song on MP3.com's Celtic music charts in 2002, plus an assortment of music that captures the heart and imagination of Tolkien fans everywhere.

The success of the Brobdingnagian Bards is due in part to their aggressive online promotion. The Bards publish several online newsletters, including the "Celtic MP3s Music Magazine" which goes out to over five thousand people every week, and he has built strong and dedicated online street teams.

It is the Brobdingnagian Bards live performances and unique music that really make the duo standout. The Bards put on a live show that is both fun and engaging, mixing their many styles of music and lively personalities to their fullest.

The combination of traditional Celtic folk, Tolkien music, ceaseless online promotion and a fun live performance makes them one of the most sought after unsigned Celtic music groups around. The future looks especially bright for the Brobdingnagian Bards as they begin recording their seventh album, "Songs of Scotland," to capture the heart and imagination of another part of their musical heritage.
